A businessman isn't a mathematician.

"A businessman isn't a mathematician. Remember that. Never become hypnotized by the beauty of numbers. A businessman is someone who buys at ten and is happy to get out at twelve. The other kind of man buys at ten, sees it rise to eighteen and does nothing. He is waiting for it to get to twenty. The beauty of numbers. When it drops to ten again he waits for it to get back to eighteen. When it drops to two he waits for it to get back to ten. Well, it gets back there. But he has wasted a quarter of his life. And all he's got out of his money is a little mathematical excitement," -- Nazruddin in A Bend in the River by V.S. Naipaul

7 Things

As embarrassing as it is to admit, we've enjoyed playing Miley Cyrus at the office, especially as energetic background music while we do our work. After listening to 7 Things for the 10th time and humming along with most of the song, we finally had to look up the lyrics. It's pretty damn catchy. Can we karaoke this piece?

I probably shouldn't say this
But at times I get so scared
When I think about the previous
Relationship we shared

It was awesome but we lost it
It's not possible for me not to care
And now we're standing in the rain
But nothing's ever gonna change
Until you hear, my dear

The 7 things I hate about you!
The 7 things I hate about you, oh you
You're vain, your games, you're insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don't know which side to buy

Your friends, they're jerks
When you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you

It's awkward and silent
As I wait for you to say
What I need to hear now
Your sincere apology

When you mean it, I'll believe it
If you text it, I'll delete it
Let's be clear
Oh, I'm not coming back
You're taking 7 steps here

The 7 things I hate about you!
You're vain, your games, you're insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don't know which side to buy

Your friends, they're jerks
When you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you

And compared to all the great things
That would take too long to write
I probably should mention the 7 that I like

The 7 things I like about you!
Your hair, your eyes, your old Levi's
When we kiss I'm hypnotized
You make me laugh, you make me cry
But I guess that's both I'll have to buy

Your hands in mine
When we're intertwined, everything's alright
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I like most that you do
You make me love you, you do

Frick Musuem

Went to the Frick Museum with Kitty to check out some art. Saw some nice European paintings and enjoyed listening to stuff about the rooms. But after an hour, got a bit tired.

Remember Shelby Woo?

I was just thinking about how unusual it was to see an Asian-American play the lead on a TV show on Nickelodeon when I was a kid. Looking back now, it was awesome! She was like the first Asian-American to grace the cover of TV Guide. Think I might have had a crush on her -- way better than Melissa Joan Hart!

Pho in Philly

Was at UPenn all weekend for a conference. Mel picked me up and took me to her much hyped pho joint in South Philly. It definitely met and exceeded all expectations. The soup was flavorful, came with more than enough amount of meat as well as a huge plate of fresh herbs & sprout toppings. Our meal came out to fourteen bucks, including Vietnamese coffee. Good stuff.
